Downloading pictures from email attachment

Why can I not download pictures from email attachments to the gallery. When I attempt to download the email attachment it goes to my files in the Samsung app. I cannot then forward the pictures through text to another contact. Why cant it go to the gallery. Why is It when you attempt to attach to the text, the items in my file does not appear

when i see pictures on email where do they go after i read the email. i cannot find them anywhere
