Just bought an unlocked surface duo and cannot receive texts.

Just as the title says, picked up a duo today and haven't been receiving text messages. I have LTE connection, i am receiving phone calls, emails etc and i can send out texts. i am just not receiving any. any.

I came from an iphone but i have already disabled imessage and facetime as well as deregister my phone number from imessage.

any help is appreciated thank you!!
