LG G3 Lollipop issues and ultimatum

Verizon. It is not my job to have to trouble shoot my phone everytime you guys push out an update.

This is something that you need to have fully tested and ready to go.

My LG G3 is borderline useless right now thanks to all of the issues with the new Lollipop rom that is currently available.

This needs to be fixed, or an easy roll back option needs to be made available. I have yet to see Verizon even comment on posts like this as of yet.

If you want to retain me as a customer. I need to hear something from VERIZON within the next few days. If not I will be jumping ship over to Sprint, or AT&T or whichever competitor I see fit. This is completely unnacceptable.

I paid a premium for this flagship phone. I should not have to be out of a phone without any responses on what to do about it because Verizon as a company can't properly bug test their software releases.

My LG G3 has been slower than dial up when connected to Wi-Fi ever since the lollipop downdate. I called Verizon last weekend and they said they have been hearing this a lot yet couldn't offer a solution. Almost a week later still in the same position.

Wouldn't even offer data until this issue was fixed.  Was told Wi-Fi is a luxury that a lot of people don't have.  Unbelievable.

Have you contacted LG on this mater? Since LG built the phone and Verizon is a Cellular Service Provider.

By changing carriers, do you think the software for the operating system is going to be different? Check some of the other providers community forums and see how many people are complaining about the lollipop update. It's not  the providers (VZW, AT&T, etc.) fault that the software is bad.

This is not just an LG problem. Look at posts for other phones. The date and time on my Motorola Razr Maxx HD is three months in the past and it will not set automatically and the manual date time option does not work! My phone worked perfectly before Lollipop. THIS IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE!

I was on the LG forum looking for a replacement now that my Razr Maxx HD is useless. It was actually the latest Verizon KitKat upgrade 182.46.15.XT926.Verizon.en.US that broke mine and many other customers Razr Maxx HD. The story is the same GREAT PHONE + VERIZON UPDATE = JUNK. So many phones are broken by these irreversible upgrades that it almost looks like a plot to make you upgrade and sign another two year agreement.

Continuing my research for a new phone. Looks like Samsung has the same issues. The following is a cut and paste from the Verizon Samsung board:

"Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop Update Problems: Same problems as everyone else: battery drains, super hot/cool down mode, intolerably sluggish (including typing).  Phone is practically useless."

Motorola, Samsung and LG! Do you still think it is a hardware issue?

No, not an LG, Samsung, or Motorola issue.  Not a Verizon issue either.  This is a software issue caused by an update to the Android OS, which LG, Samsung, and Motorola (among others) use.  While the carriers are the ones who ultimately release the update to customers, they do not create and fix any OS.  All the major carriers (and probably smaller ones as well as prepay providers) are getting complaints about this from customers.  Check this article out...it will show you that this is a universal issue with the Lollipop update, regardless of carrier or make/model of the device.

Based on a moderate amount of research, the majority of the problems (decreased battery, slow charging, high temperatures, poor wifi connectibility) span different manufacturers and service providers.  I have been able to fix these for the most part by performing two complete resets of the phone and modifying the ipv6 setting on my home router; however the main wifi issue cannot be fixed without rooting (I do not recognize downloading a 3rd party app of questionable reputation as a fix).

From what I've read, the lack of push notifications while on wifi IS a problem which only affects the G3 (VS985) on Verizon service.  Therefore it IS Verizon's software which is degrading the usability of the phone.  I have spoken with two representatives who were aware of the problem and say "LG is working diligently to provide them a software update to fix the problems with Lollipop".  I hope it happens soon!

Really glad I got this phone for free from Verizon or I would be irate, I suppose the true cost for it has come from many hours spent resetting the phone, reinstalling apps and settings in an attempt to get it functioning again.
