Message+ or equivalent

I got my old Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G360 when we went with Verizon years ago.  That phone began having an issue.  So I bought through ebay the same phone -- Samsung Galaxy Core Prime G360.  On the original phone I had Message+ for texting [red icon with two chatboxes on it].  What I have on the new phone just says "Messaging" [with a white envelope, with a yellow message sticking up].  Yet, I don't even see this "Messaging" when I click Application Manager.  Is there a way to get Message+ or some equivalent on this phone?

We want to ensure you can use the right message app, PATWOR16. Message+ is now called Verizon Messages. Are you able to find an app called Verizon Messages in your Play Store? You can learn more here, http://spr.ly/6607MMgmP. -Danielle

Danielle, when I look in Google Play Store I searched for "Verizon Messages".  I don't see it.  I have android vers 5.1.1

If it's not showing up in the google app store that may mean it's not compatible with that device.  It's a red background  with white chat windows on the red and clearly says Verizon messages.  Is the phone a verizon phone or unlocked?   Maybe if it's unlocked is why, no clue.

Yes, I remember, its a red icon with the two white chat boxes in it.  When I turn the phone on it says Unlocked before the phone fully loads for usage.  The phone was bought on Ebay, its the same exact Samsung phone as I bought originally from Verizon, but obviously its not "from" Verizon since I got it through Ebay.

So, maybe the texting feature I have now is the only one for me in this case?

Since I still have, and I can still turn on the old phone, I wonder if there is a way for me to transfer that over to the new phone.

Or, if there is another texting option you know of ??

Never had an unlocked phone but from what I understand not all Verizon features work on an unlocked phone.  I use samsungs stock messaging app as that's what I prefer over Verizon messages.  If the old phone is a Verizon branded phone and the new is unlocked then that must be why.  I know nothing about side loading apps or where to find them outside the google store.    If you had it on your old phone does it show up in the list of apps not installed on the new phone when you look at that in the google store?  If it shows up in the google store on the old phone and not the new that has to be why.

acraflylady2, On the new phone (unlocked) I do not see Verizon Messages in the Google Play Store.  Verizon Messages I'm now told is Verizon's new name for what was previously called Messages+.  Its the same thing, just a new name.  So, I put the sim card back in my old phone.  Of course the messaging app I was inquiring about (Messages+/Verizon Messages) is still there on that phone.  So, I looked on Google Play Store {with the old phone| for it and it does not show in Google Play Store with that phone either.  Maybe because its already on that phone.  I don't know.

I looked in Google Play Store for the Samsung messaging app you use and did not see it either.  I may just keep using the old phone in order to get the messaging app I was use to.  If I start having issues with it, if I have to I have this new one [which I bought cheap on Ebay] and I can always use it.  I'll just settle for the messaging app thats on it.  That messaging app works, it just doesn't have emoticons.

PATWOR16, I use Verizon Messages and I know how important it is to have a messaging application like this.  I do want to set the expectation that the device you have and the software you are running is older and Verizon Messages will not be able to be used on the device.  I recommend doing some research and see if there are other third party messaging apps that are like Verizon Messages.  One app I know that is popular is WhatsApp.  This is not a Verizon application and this is something I see a lot of people use.

I assume mine is the stock samsung messaging app.  Blue background and just says messages, came installed on my samsung phone when I bought it a few years ago.  Much more simple than Verizon messages.  When you go to installed apps in the Google store Verizon messages should be in the list and when you click should take you to the page for it.

Santo, maybe I'm mistaken, I thought WhatsApp was a chat thing, like Messenger on FB.  If so, that wouldn't work for me.  I would want to be able to receive and send texts to contacts on my phone.
