It has been over a week since verizon officially pushed the lollipop update OTA and still haven't received it. Any explanation why?

They don't push it out all at once. I goes in increments like 1% of owners then 5 then 20 so forth and so on until 100%.

LP wasn't a huge difference in aesthetics on the G3, unlike the G2, since the G3 already had most of the new graphics. The under the hood stuff was a bit different, but the biggest change for me in LP was the new app permission restrictions. If done properly, the update is near flawless.

I noticed today that the VM notification is different now. When i swipe down, the *86 is still there. It just doesn't stay put. If i don't press/tap *86 right away, it disappears.
All that's left is the usual VVM prompt. That hasn't changed. Lol

Im getting tired of waiting for the update. It has taken verizon long enough. Guess I will see what other carriers I can go for.

Why not use the software update assistant? Plug your phone into the PC. Update that way. Also, you might not be able to update OTA if you have any type of modified recovery.
