Why won't my device connect to my laptop or my computer anymore?

I read someplace where the new upgrade puts the USB in charge only mode, but I can't find that setting when I slide down the notification window.  Can you help?

I was having this problem and chatted with Samsung support online.   They had me switch which USB port I was plugged into.   No help.  They had me change cables.  THIS DID IT!!  As soon as i switched cables, I pulled the shade on the phone and I now had the "Connected as Charger" message.  Tapped it and was able to change the connection type.

Do you have anything in the notification shade when the phone is plugged into a computer?
