weak LTE signal LGv20

I've moved from a Samsung S5 and I've noticed that the LGv20 signal seems a lot weaker and also is reluctant to change once it deteriorates.  For example areas where the S5 had 3G or 4G the LGv20 will generally say 1x.  Sometimes if I switch to airplane mode and back it will come back as 4G.  Is there a way to improve the wireless network performance on this phone?  I feel like I've taken a big step backwards in network signal.

That's not really helpful.  Also I am talking about LTE network wireless signal so router and internet service have no association here.
