Seems to me that these are the only options available.

Customers are constantly changing their phone habits to suit their billing agreement when it should be the other way around.

Customers' phone usage is constantly changing, yet billing plans remain the same.

There are over 80 million customers, and only like 20-30 "Plans" with little customization. Customers are constantly settling for a plan that best fits their budget and phone usage, instead of creating a plan that fits them.

Here, have a cell phone!

You can take it just about anywhere and call just about anybody. Just pick which box you want to stay in; A, B, or C.

Look! It's wireless!! There are no cords attached, just strings, limitations and the occasional overage charge.:smileywink:

Have a look at my suggestion that I think I put in the wrong place :smileyhappy: I think it's pretty good.

The problem with this, is that you seem to be putting the bulk of the work on Verizon. It seems that you want to have Verizon drastically change, at great cost I'm sure, their internal billing software to constantly track and analyze the calling habits of all of their 90million + customers. I am sure that several of these same customers that you want to help, would cry invasion of privacy.

Verizon currently ALREADY has somewhat of a dynamic billing system in place. It just places the responsibility on the person actually utilizing the system.

Verizon allows you to change your calling plan currently, I believe 2 times per month. With these changes, you can prevent overages. Say you feel that you are talking a lot this month and are on a 700 minute plan. You can go into your MyVerizon and change your calling plan to the 1400 minute plan and have it take place at the beginning of your current billing cycle. That is right, you can have the 1400 minute plan take effect before you even make the change! This could prevent overages. Same thing can be done with data and texting. This is, of course as long as you make the change BEFORE the end of your billing cycle and have it take effect at the beginning of your current billing cycle. Currently, Verizon offers 3 options of the timing of plan changes. At the beginning of your current cycle, at the time of the plan change, and at the beginning of your next billing cycle. Three options to cover any scenario you would have.

Problem is, though, that this puts the burden on the consumer, and of course, it seems that most consumers can't be bothered with taking the responsibility of their own actions, and instead must be protected from themselves.

So, I vote D, take responsibility for your own expenditures. Don't try to pass it off to someone else, as this will just make you lazy and will therefore be more susceptible for shady practices in other areas.

This doesn't belong on the prepaid forum. I have been a  prepaid person for years, I'm happy with the plans that verizon has for prepay and happy with the service I receive. The plans are written out in plan English and bare bone basic.
