Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975U) / Android 12
If I sign up to get text message updates from a business (example: USPS tracking info), I can receive the messages but I get a generic error when I try to send a response. All it says is "Couldn't send message" and has an exclamation next to the response. I would like to respond to the messages but somehow it is blocked from sending a response. Is there a setting I need to adjust to allow me to respond to the SMS messages?

I understand how important it can be to be able to reply to the short code messages, NWPencrawler. Some providers, (ex: USPS), don't allow a response. That can be why you get the error. Does this happen to all short code numbers, or just random ones? - Vanessa

It happens to all short code messages now. I used to be able to respond all the time without any restriction or failures. Typically I respond to pharmacy prescription reminders (RiteAid), or USPS, UPS, FedEx, etx for shipment reminders. Now they all do not work and will fail if I try to respond.

Thank you for offering this helpful information. Are you using the native Messages app or Verizon Message+?
