Why isn't my credit balance applied to pay off my phone?

You have to pay the entire phone balance in one lump sum to pay off the remaining amount due on the phone. Verizon Wireless doesn't allow you to pay a separate partial amount except for previously arranged monthly installment payments that appear on your bill.
