Can't restore messages

I don't have Verizon cloud backups and my old phone died.  New phone has been backed up from Google which restores everything except for texts.  Any way to get those old messages onto my new phone?

depends what you mean by died, still power on, access any apps??

if yes, you can install samsung smart switch on both & with wi-fi can xfer messages.
