There are 3 options. I prefer the 1st one.
1. Forward the text message to 7726. (Report it as spam, you will never receive any message from that number and is FREE)
2. Loging into into:
My Verizon Online Sign In - Verizon Wireless
Then MyService -> Block Services -> Select your phone number -> + Messaging
Under Block ALL Messaging, Click SHOW MORE
Then Click the Link for Call & Message Blocks.
Enter there the number you want to block, then Submit.
The only problem is that they only last 90 Days!
3. Use a 3rd party App to blockthe text message.
You must use a 3rd party app to block texts now. The app you choose must be used as your default messaging app as well. So say you decide to use Hangouts for example to block texts, you would have to use Hangouts to send and receive texts. Same for any app since Android does not natively have the ability to block texts.

Option 1 is not guaranteed, as not all reported numbers are actually SPAM. Those number are followed up on and if found to be private or personal numbers, rather than shell and business numbers, they will be taken off that list. Plus, a number reported one time carries much less weight than the same number being reported many times from many users. Option 2 allows only 5 numbers to be blocked, and with SPAMmers changing numbers after every call, will last about a day or so. You can subscribe to a premium service to block more numbers, but obviously that isn't free.
