Thinking of getting an S9 plus. Based on anyone's experience with their S8, how reliable and regular is Verizon in sending out Android's monthly security updates?
CLARPA21, the question is not how reliable VZW is about sending update, it's what do the updates do TO, not FOR, the phones. Just ask S8 and S8+ users what Oreo did to their phones.
I just got the security patch for March 1st on saturday april 7th if that helps.
And mine is still on the 1 February 2018 revision so your mileage may vary...
I asked EXACTLY the question I meant to ask. NOT the question you think I wanted answered. I know the difference.
If you got one of the Pixel phones, the monthly security updates would be quite reliable. The Samsung phones appear to be more likely a month behind.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
The only point I was making with my question is these OS updates often cause significant problems.
I understand your point. However I was not asking about OS updates. I was asking about the monthly security updates. There is a difference.
That is sometimes the case when moving between major Android releases, e.g., from Nougat to Oreo (Android 7.x to 8.x). Usually the "monthly" security updates are not so intrusive. The Galaxy S9+ that the OP asked about already used Oreo at its initial release.
Was this on the Galaxy S9+ or another device? I still do not see the 1 March security update for my S9+, even when manually checking...
