Just recently I started to receive the "Confirm read report will be sent", after every text a friend sends me. She just got a new Samsung (if that matters) and now I get this message popup. I have never recd it from anyone else... it is very annoying!
I have a Galaxy S7 Edge and I've gone through the steps to make sure the Delivery reports are turned Off... and they are! But I am still getting these pop-ups. Is there a way to disable this on my end or her end. Why is this happening? Please Help! Thanks!
It may be that the sender's phone is controlling this.
ask your friend to eliminate the open/reply requirement.
This would be a concern for me as well. However, this may be on the other persons end. If the other party has their phone set to send read reports to her contacts you will get the message reply to send it back confirming you have read the message. Please have the other party check to make sure this feature is turned off and retest to make sure your issues has been resolved.

JasperM_VZW's answer is wrong. Requesting a delivery report with a text does not ask the receiver to send the message back to confirm it was read.
I have the same issue on my S7 Edge, then what is the correct answer if all of the above replies are incorrect? My thinking was if the sender has a Samsung device then it is possible their phones are directing the read confirmation?
We certainly wanty to help put an end to these annoying messages, MGRANNISNY. I am sorry for the hassle. Are you using the native Messages app or the red Verizon Message+ application? Is this only happening with one contact or have multiple Samsung devices messaged you with the same results? YaleK_VZW
I am getting this too. It seems to be one person it happens with. Whether in a private or group chat. I feel they have this set up on their end on purpose which I don't like but they will deny that they do because they are shady like that LOL. I have all my read/delivery receipts turned off on my end. I have the option to "reply or cancel" after every time I send a text. I usually just hit the back button so I'm not sure if that also cancels it or if it alerts them one way or the other? But shouldn't our phones control our actions & not anyone else's? This feature is annoying & I don't like people knowing when I read their texts. I prefer my privacy.
michellesahs, we understand how much of a nuisance the read receipt can be. If you have turned off this feature on your phone and the other party has the feature turned on, on their phone, there's no way to prevent the feature from working other than asking that individual to turn the feature off for your messages to/from them.

There used to be a menu option for me to select whether or not the "confirmation of read reports" pop-up would be shown on my S10. I can't find that menu option anywhere in my settings now (it's not in Message/.../Settings/More Settings/Text or Multimedia Messages). It's not a matter of me selecting "Show When Delivered", as that is me requesting confirmation of a message I've sent to someone as having been read. I reviewed this with someone who uses Messages+ (I'm only using Messages). Apparently, his Messages+ texts have a small grey box under a message he has sent me showing it is sending, sent, delivered or read. The option for me to select whether or not "confirmation of read reports" would be shown was a convenience for me not to be bothered by the pop-up, since the grey boxed status items would be shown on the sender's phone regardless. I thought that me selecting OK each time I saw that message would result in him receiving a ton of message confirmation texts from me. Not so, only his gray box information changes, which he says he ignores, since it's on every text message. It may be triggered by the sender's option setting to request a read receipt, but there WAS at one time a way for me to not be bothered with the "confirmation of read reports" pop-up screens. One interesting characteristic is that is doesn't occur with every text message , regardless of it being text or multimedia.
