Is there anyway to remove the new system update, this is unacceptable

Is there anyway to remove the new system update and go back to the way my phone was? Phone app reaponse time is slow. Takes forever to open apps and call people. Texting and swype are awful and my ringtone, that i have had for 5 years, sounds like its under water. Also, the new colors and fonts are cheap looking. This is sub standard work by Verizon. All we needed was better battery. This is unacceptable. We're paying too much for verizon for an update we didn't ask for.
