I've noticed the screen on my S7 does not turn off during phone calls since the Nougat update. This is especially annoying when I have my phone in the otterbox case with the kickstand on my desk while the samsung earphones are plugged in. I push the power button to turn the screen off and the screen just turns right back on. This happens if I'm holding my phone and walking around as well with the earphones plugged in. I've tried covering up the sensors as well and then pushing the power button, but the same thing keeps happening. This issue did not exist prior to the Nougat update.

Very strange. I would try it out of the case.. even though it only started after Nougat and the case was on prior. This way you can rule out the sensor being bad.
Also, Settings > Display > Screen timeout > make sure it is set to 15 or 30 seconds.
The reason I suggest removing from the case is that Samsung/VZ will suggest this. Let us know.

The case has no impact and does not obstruct the sensors. This is a new issue ever since the Nougat update. It has never happened prior to this. My timeout settings have always been enabled from day 1.

I've got nothing for you then. Sorry I commented. Good luck.

Does anyone from vzw_customer_support have anything to say about this? This is draining my battery like crazy on calls. I do not notice the issue if I hold the phone up to my ear. The issue only happens if I have the phone set down on the table on speaker or if i'm holding it in my hand while using the earphones/mic to carry on a conversation. Even if I cover up the sensors while the phone is on speaker or the earphones are plugged in, the screen never stays off.

This happened to me and I do not have Nougat yet. This happened when I answered a call when my screen was locked or if my screen locked while I was on a call. The solution that worked for me was, while on the call, unlock the screen, then hit the power button. My screen then turned off and stayed off until I hit the power button again.
