Samsung Galaxy S7 and Messages app

I transferred my texting from Facebook Messenger to the standard Messages app that comes preloaded on my Samsung Galaxy S7. Works great with most of my contacts except one person.  With him, I can not text or receive messages using Messages.  I have no problem contacting him using Facebook Messenger.  Help!

Have you tried deleting and re-adding the contact?

Help has arrived! We want all of your messages to send and receive successfully. I can certainly understand your frustration with just one contact not working. Let's get this fixed. Have you recently changed from an iPhone to a non-iPhone(Galaxy S7)? Can you make and receive phone calls from this contact? Have you completed a soft reset on the device( powering the device off/on) https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-203268/?
