I have the above phone, Android system. How do I transfer video/pictures to my computer. Hook up a USB cable to the phone. And nothing apperars to choose video transfer. Is there some setting on the phone that needs to be turned on?

The NFC has nothing to do with connecting the phone to the computer.
Move Pictures / Videos from Device - Samsung Galaxy S7 / S7 edge | Verizon Wireless
Be sure to use the USB cable that came with the phone and try a different USB port if the first one doesn't work properly.

Did you pull down the notification shade and change the USB connection type from charging only to File Transfer?

ANN154 - got the email with your suggestion. Hasn't posted to here yet. But, I have turned Phone visibility to 'ON' > NFC to "ON". If there is some way to change the USB connection type I don't see it.

Maybe you can try coolmuster android assistant to help you check if the video/pictures on your phone from computer via usb cable. If they can be displayed on program window, you can transfer them to computer easily.
You could upload the content to a Cloud account and then download it to the computer.
