My screen stopped rotating on my Galaxy S5. I've tried clearing the cache, and a hard reset. Is there anything left to try?
By hard reset, you mean turning the phone off and on again, correct?
On your home screen, if you swipe down from the top of the screen, there should be a Screen Rotation icon. Make sure that one is lit up, and even if it is, try tapping it to toggle the rotation feature and check if that makes any difference.
That should fix the problem, but if it doesn't, then go to "Settings > Backup and Reset > Reset Settings" and that should correct anything that's gone awry in the settings.
No. By hard reset I mean factory reset. I have checked the screen rotation setting multiple times, as well as turn it off and on. I've turned the phone off and pulled the battery. I've rebooted the phone in recovery mode and cleared the cache partition. I've rebooted the phone in recovery mode and done the factory data reset. I've had the problem off and on since the android update to 6.0.1. It's gotten worse and worse, until it finally quit working completely. I tried uninstalling apps one at a time thinking an app may have caused it. then I tried the cache and factory reset options. It still won't work.
If the screen rotation has been gradually getting worse, and there was no change after a factory reset, then it's most likely a hardware problem at this point. If you have warranty or insurance on the phone, I'd reach out to Verizon tech support to replace the device. I wish there was more I could offer.

Having a rotating screen is a must! Let's get to the bottom of this right away. You mentioned that this started since the Android update, when did you update your device to that software? When you completed the factory data reset, did you test the screen rotation with no third party apps/files installed? Does your phone have any physical/liquid damage?

There has been no liquid damage with the phone. I don't remember exactly when the update was done. I got a "software update available" message and gave the ok to load it. I did the factory data reset and tested before installing any other apps.
