Texting from verizon app using your child numbers

Is there a way for a parent to send a text from their child's number?  The text looks like it came from the kid but was actually sent by a parent using a verizon app.

Are you talking about SMS spoofing? Yes it happens. Just another way people get into our lives.

How do you know it was sent by a parent and what was the Verizon app used?
