Spectre and Meltdown security vulnerabilities are quite concerning. There is an Android update to address these issues. When will it be pushed from Verizon for my Galaxy S7? Android 2018-01-05 Security Patch Level
Your device security is one of our top priorities, JULLAR57. That’s why we work closely with Samsung and Google to get you software updates as quickly as possible while also making sure it has been thoroughly tested. The December 1st security patch was released December 13th but I don’t have a date when the January 1st security patch will be available. As soon as it is, your device will notify you of the update and you’ll also be able to find the details at https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-s7-update . Is everything working well with your S7 using the software currently available?

My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 just received a notification that there is a Software update that addresses security issues!!!!
I'm installing it now. Hopefully this security update will address the KRACK, Meltdown, and Spectre vulnerabilities that have arisen recently (i.e., during the past couple of weeks for Meltdown and Spectre and a few months ago for KRACK).
The update is confusing. After applying the update I looked in Settings, About Phone and the Security Patch level still shows as August 1, 2017 (suggesting that none of the security vulnerabilities like KRACK, Meltdown, or Spectre have been addressed). The Kernel version and SE for Android status now show December 6, 2017, so something has changed.
Under Settings, System updates shows that the last system update was a software update to N910VVRU2CQL1 and that it was applied today (Jan 17,2018). So far I haven't found any documentation for this update so it is totally unclear what has been changed or fixed.
