I am very upset to find out that the Oreo upgrade has ruined my wonderful Galaxy S8. By that I mean that there is no longer a message ringtone option under each contact. Not only that I get a one notification for every text and I can't seem to change it to a louder ringtone so that I could hear it. Even flip phones allow you to have different ringtones please tell me that this stupid failure is going to be corrected soon. Or is there some other way to fix it but I just don't see?

Have you tried the Google Messages application instead of Samsung one?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
