We definitely want you to be confident in the control you have over your phone. In order to allow you to multi-task efficiently, most smartphones will hold your place in your recently used applications so you can pick up in the same spot you left off when you go back to them. If you'd like to have an app completely closed when you are finished using it, to elaborate on bearone21​'s directions, you can follow these steps: View, Open or Close Recently Used Apps - Samsung Galaxy Note8 | Verizon Wireless Does this help?
