Verizon Messages+ not working on android

I switched phones (Samsung s8 to another s8).  Conducted a Smart Switch and took my SIM out of old phone and placed into new.  Everything transferred okay initially.

I sent a text via Messages+ and it worked, initially.  Then everything disappeared in Messages+.  No conversations visible now.  Cannot receive texts either.  What happened?  I had to change my default messaging app to "Messages" and that works just fine.  I prefer the Verizon Messages+ app and would like to go back to that.

I've tried powering the phone off and back on several times.  I cannot "restore" as described by Verizon tech support because the only option is restore from SD card.  No option to restore from Verizon cloud.

What do I need to do to get Verizon Messages+ to work again?  Please help!
