I want to turn off my kid's data on a schedule.  I don't want my kids bypassing my home wifi controls, by making a hotspot.  Can i do this?

22350, we realize how important it is to be able to monitor and control data usage on your account.  The Familybase would allow you to control your child’s service on a schedule (as long as their phone has that capability as this cannot be done with any phone).  However, we are not able to turn off the WiFi capabilities of a device since this uses an outside network.  That can only be done on the device itself or on the WiFi network/router.  Here is more information about our Familybase feature:

Thanks for the response.

I am not interested in controlling the wifi. I can do that through my router. I need to be able to turn off their lte data. I do not, however, want to turn off the phone service.

Just don’t want them on the internet. I do want them to be able to make a phone call

thanks,

Paul

FamilyBase may be a good fit for you. You are able to do things like set a limit on how much data they are able to use in a month, as well as setting school and sleep hours where they are not able to use data at all. For calling and text messages, you can leave these features unaffected. If certain numbers in your life become an issue, you can either prevent your children from calling or texting those specific numbers, or you can create a whitelist of approved numbers that they are allowed to contact. The beauty of FamilyBase is that it gives you, the parent and the person paying the bill, executive discretion over how and when the devices are used. Of course, if the problem is related to their using their phones to create Mobile Hotspots in order to connect other devices to their phones, another option you may be interested in is simply removing the Mobile Hotspot provisioning from the lines in question.
