We’ve teamed with Amazon to enhance the Fios TV viewing experience. Customers can use their Alexa-enabled devices to voice command and control their Fios Video Media Server (VMS) multi-room DVR set-top boxes (STB.)

When using Alexa with networks, it’s as easy as saying “Alexa, change to BRAVO” (a personal favorite.) Similar commands apply to fast-forwarding, rewinding, pausing and more. The icing on the cake is the ability to search by title, genre, actor or category.

Alexa integration requires the customer to navigate setup with instructions provided by the Amazon Alexa team on the Alexa app on their mobile devices or the desktop site. The required pairing of the devices then takes place via My Verizon with the owner’s user ID and password. The device setup enables the Verizon Fios “video skill” feature; allowing Alexa to control the STB via voice command.
