strange spellchecker behavior

When i recently composed a reply that included the word VERIZON in all uppercase letters, spellchecker flagged it as misspelled, yet offered me the same word, VERIZON, at the top of the "suggested-corrections pop-up (drop-down)"........ When i chose it as the correction, it still flagged as misspelled on recheck. When i chose VERIZON'S,  HORIZON, or VERIFY or i suspect any of the other suggested corrections, the corrected word  no longer flagged as misspelled upon recheck. Only when i chose VERIZON as the correction. Which ,by the way, is the first suggested correction listed for the supposedly misspelled VERIZON. Confused? Try it , you'll see what i mean, maybe......
