ABC on demand: No pause, rewind or fast forward ??

Not sure when ABC content started showing up On Demand, but every ABC asset seems to play without any user control and starts with this graphic:

 

So, can anyone in the FiOS world control ABC on demand assets or are we all limited to "play thru" only like I am?  Can anyone shed some light and explain this?

From what I understand, ABC requires this of all providers for their ON DEMAND.

This is unfortunatly true.  ABC is not the only one however.  Disney on demand purchases will have the FF/RW abilities disabled as well.  I believe this has something to do with advertisements/commercials embedded into the VOD program.
