In Northern Virginia, Verizon is still listing Aljazeera as Current TV. That's not helpful, but it sure is typical. I've been trying to get Verizon to spell my last name correctly (i.e., we're talking about the INITIAL LETTER!) for 12 years! If you look me up in Verizon white pages, you won't find me.
Do yourself a favor. Ignore the knee jerk jingos, Fox newsers, and other know-nothings out there and give this a good chance. So far, it absolutely towers above the other crappy cable news channels. I'm just sorry it's not home grown. And again, sorry that our home grown monopolist, rolling-in-money Verizon can't trouble itself to properly list the name of this channel, not to (again) mention MY name.
Yea, it's a shame they can't be more on the ball with their guide. Titantv.com has also yet to update their listings to show the Al Jazeera channel.
This probably had something to do with the channel launching at 3PM. Hopefully will be fixed Wednesday.
Watching their first broadcast now....WOW I've missed REAL news. Ever since Verizon dumped Bridges from their channel lineup I've forgotten what real news is like. Bridges had Democracy Now with Amy Goodman. I like what I see so far, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm sure the suits at Verizon will eventually terminate their contract due to "low viewership" - which translates to - refused to fall in line with the message that our oligarchs demand.
