Any way to disable Fios/Video On Demand?

I can block certain channels and ratings using the parental controls, but how do I block/disable the free Video on Demand stuff? I block Disney and Nick channels so my kid can't watch those teenage shows on there, but then he just goes into the free On Demand programs and watches them from there instead!

I am sorry to hear about your troubles. There is no way to disable the free VOD subscription. You can remove the functionality of VOD all together, or continue to use the controlling channels and ratings as you have.

That would require an order to be put through from sales/billing to remove that feature off of your account. We can help facilitate that. I have sent you a private message to get more information.

I searched for the same issue (how to block 'Video On Demand' programming that undermines the parental control channel blocks I've installed), and I am extremely disappointed to find I have no option to block that programming unless I cancel VOD altogether.  Without this capability I need to weigh canceling VOD vs. seeking another service provider.  Please develop VOD controls to help parents manage their children's viewing.

We are new customers to Verizon FIOS and last night I set up the parental controls.  To my dismay I discovered that parental controls don't really cover VOD other than blocking Adult channels and requiring a PIN to purchase a video.  So based on the prior discussion I called Verizon and was told that it cannot be removed from the plan.  Can someone advise if they were able to actually remove VOD?

How do you change the on demand negitive feature of removing fast forward capability?  Some on demand shows seem to lock out the commercial skip button?

I agree with the previous commenters.  We have had FIOS for quite a while and it is problematic that we cannot block free VOD.  I don't want my children to see some free VOD shows which are not appropriate for them.  You should develop a technical fix.  Please request it from your technicians.  Thank you.

I also agree with the poster. Let me tell you my story.  I got the Fios Setup, and being the great parents we are (that and I am an engineer) I went ahead and set the parental code in 2 places. Great, now my children can be safe from harm.

Well, one day my wife and I were watching TV, and suddenly the channel changed and it turned on the Porno channel.  Right away I delted this sheduled VOD. Thats right, even if the VOD is not on, you can still buy it and when it comes on the channel will automatically turn it on.

My question is what in the world is the parental controls for if children can do things like this?

There was a second mistake that happened with parental controls on, my son somehow got the remote and ordered the spanish channel. Well, no big deal, I will just call them and say "whoops" he made a mistake, please remove it. Well, not so easy. For about a year I was calling every month, just to have the spanish channel appear again the next month on my bill, then i call again, wait on the phone for half and hour, only to have the next thing happen to me next month.

The system is REALLY buggy with VOD and other services, some which can cost $50 and up. Verizon does a very very poor job at this. I had to finally call and have them turn off all VOD, all ordering and so far its been good. The bad part of that is when I have friends over and want to watch boxing or something which I would have PAID 60 dollars or whatever it cost, I cannot. It's just too much trouble.

I suggest you make sure to CALL verizon, have them shut off all VOD, especially if you have kids that may find the remote even though you hide it.
