Verizon's MSG package has become such a joke to many people that whenever they see one of those fios commercials where verizon is advertising that they now have MSG in HD a lot of people get a good laugh at it who have MSG with verizon because many of the games along with the logos for those channels are simply not there. Take tonight for example. On channel 81 MSG PLUS 2 the guide had listed the entire time that the game that would be on there is a hockey game that is between the new york islanders and the washington capitals but instead what was on there was the new jersey devils vs the philadelphia flyers, That means that if you were looking for the devils vs the flyers on the guide the game was nowhere to be found. Right after the game what is listed is the ny islanders post game but what it really is instead is the nj devils postgame. I say this not only because it was an issue tonight but because this has become a consistent issue where it really is a guessing game as to what game will be there when it comes to both basketball and hockey games with the MSG package. Now on thursday what will be on at 7pm on channel 81 MSG PLUS 2 will be the new jersey devils vs the carolina panthers hockey game but the guide does not have that game listed there. The channel is even advertising the game well ahead of time that it will be on thursday on channel 81 at 7pm but what the guide has listed there instead is a game between the ny islanders vs the philadelphia flyers. Now i know that verizon is at some point going to be adding the HD version of channel 81 which will be MSG PLUS 2 HD which will be located on channe 581 but before verizon does that it would behoove them to at least know what game is on what channel so that people can set up a game to tape so that they can watch it with the correct listing of the two teams that are playing each other that night. It would also be help if verizon actually had the MSG 2 logo for channel 79 MS2 which is listed as MSG and the logo for MSG PLUS 2 channel 81 which is listed as MSG PLUS. The same goes for channel 579 which has the logo that should be on channel 79 where the MSG 2 HD logo is not there while channel 580 has an MSG logo when it is MSG PLUS HD.
Thanks caps09 for that information. I misspoke when i said who the nj devils opponent was on that night as it turned out to be the colorodo avalanche not who i mentioned that the devils would be playing that night. MSG may be at fault but there are a lot of things including what is on the MSG channels that verizon can try to stay updated about so that their customers can be aware of what game is playing on what channel. That devils vs avalanche game was listed everywhere including the tv guide, zap 2 it and locate tv's websites which have verizon fios' guide correct on there. There are many issues that exist with verizon's guide but the biggest issues with the guide are with their international programming and sports channels. I still say that people should not assume that what is listed on the guide for the MSG channels is going to be there and the same goes for many other channels where if you think that a certain movie that is listed on the guide will be there chances are that it will not be that movie.
