Canadian channels

Why cant Verizon FIOS Carry Canadian TV channels.  We are a border city (Buffalo, NY) and have always had the close Canadian channels on our cable from the very first cable we had in the mid '70s.  Now FIOS can't carry it?

We can pick them up with an outside antenna.   We can watch countries from around the world, but i cannot watch TV from Toronto 70 miles away.

Disgusting.

From what I've read, Verizon carries all local channels and regional sports networks by fiber-optic connection. I don't know how much it would take to connect your VHO with the stations in Toronto, or even if it's possible. Another way to do it is to get a satellite feed to the super head ends, but again, I don't know how much work that would take. Time Warner might use a satellite feed for CBC in your area, but since it's set up differently, they can just get the signal to the local head end there.

Using only fiber to the local VHO is great for signal quality, but for this situation it is definitely a disadvantage. In my region, most of us have been waiting an entire season for Verizon to add MASN2 HD, but since it takes so long to get a dedicated connection, the channel never came.
