Cannot Tape programs on my DVr

I have suddenly lost my ability to tape shows or series. The function has seemed to dissappeared.  I have search all over the menus and cannot find it. Can someone tell me where Verizon moved it to?

Do you have VMS? That happened to my mother in laws. Had to cold init it. 

Unplug the box and as soon as you plug back in keep pressing Menu on remote. Once the display come up push the down arrow until it reads Cold then hit OK. 

Give it like 10-15 minutes to complete.
