Cannot stream movies on laptop

Every time I try to stream a movie on my laptop using Google Chrome or MS Edge, it just goes to a blank screen.  I have no trouble watching on my smartphone, so I was wondering if I need to download something for the browsers to work.  Thank you.

I believe website uses silverlight plugin to work.

The Silverlight plugin doesn't work for playback on Chrome, Safari or MS Edge. Is there another method to allow playback of purchased and rented movies?
