How do I connect the esata drive I used with the old dvr to a new dvr that has firewire and usb ports?

If it is a 64XX or 7XXX model, you can connect it the same way.
If you upgraded to VMS, it doesn't support external drive
Keep in mind, if you are moving to an older model DVR that does support esata, you will lose everything on external drive as encryption is based on the serial number of the dvr.
