DVR Formatting

When you select Format Drive does it really format the drive? It happened so quickly I have to question if it formatted the drive or just wiped out the directory (and Favorite channels). If the latter, is there a way to reformat the (external) drive?

Probaly just does a quick format. Wiping directory and space allocation information.

If you have the proper connections, conect external drive to a pc.

Format drive there.

Then when you reconnect to DVR, it will format to FIOS requirements.
