Dear Verizon,
I think your technical or development team should look at a ways to enable the DVR SET-TOP boxes USB port and create the ability for your customers to be able to use these ports to save or downlaod their DVR settings (i.e. Scheduled Programs, Parental control and other custom settings) so that when a set-top box is being replaced for another one, they have the ability to restore those saved settings onto the the new set-top box.
Also, it would be nice to find a way to allow your customers the ability to add an external USB Storage device to increase the DVR's storage capacity.
First off, this is a peer-to-peer support forum, not a Verizon support forum. So "Dear Verizon" doesn't mean that anyone at Verizon is actually reading this.
But yes, external hard drive support is one of the things that they're working on right now. I suggest you read the FiOS twitter feed at twitter.com/fiostv.
that should be available in one of the next two img releases - and the saving settings to usb flash is a cool idea, they may impliment it later, but I think they are doing them in order of priority and they would like to get the esata support for external harddrives first.
