Hello community,
It's been a while since I got this problem and now I'm totally fed up with it.
When I try to access or use my DVR it appears this message "The DVR service is not authorized on this set-top box", even if I've never stopped paying for it. I have called Verizon and use the online chat, they reset and re-initialized the set-top box several times but it still doesn't work. The worst thing is that I wasted hours on the phone or the Internet to achieve nothing.
Do some Verizon users have experience on how to fix this problem?? Your help is really appreciated.
Thanks
Marco
Call Verizon again. Explain the problem, and tell them you want a new DVR. They will send you one, and it is easy enough to install.
When I had that problem I rebooted the router, waited for the internet light to kick in, and then rebooted the set top box.
Seemed to work for me, give it a try.
Also try the quick fix for dvr/
Click your DVR button and scroll down and you will see an auto fix dvr issues.
just tried, I still got the same message that the DVR service is not authorized
I think I'd better have the set-top box replaced from Verizon
Good Afternoon,

I just experienced this problem with a Motorola 7232 DVR box. If anyone still experiencing it, there is one more thing to try, if you are desperate not to lose your recordings/programming on the DVR.
The quick background is the STB function was still working, except trying to use the DVR function resulted in the dreaded 'not authorized' message. A straight reboot did not solve the problem. Trying to work with Verizon tech support actually seemed to compound it, as the box then become completely un-bootable, with the TV screen displaying 'Please re-insert cableCard' as the DVR box continually power-cycled.
I have a solution for the 'not authorized' problem that is working so far, allowing me to boot the DVR, access live programming, and access the DVR . I do suspect the DVR is sketchy and could go out again. If the problem re-occurs I will probably replace the box.
If you can't get rid of the 'not authorized' problem, do the following:
unplug the power cable from the back of the DVR
unplug the coax input from the back of the DVR
disconnect any other wires (take photos first, if needed, to make sure you can get everything back correctly)
take the DVR to a location where you don't care if things get a little dusty.
examine the fan on back of DVR
If you see dust, blow out the dust. I had a lot on mine, which may interfere with cooling.
Next let the DVR sit several hours, preferably overnight. Allow it to thoroughly cool down.
Re-install DVR, connecting power last.
After doing the above procedures, my DVR booted up, and I am able to access all functionality.
Note: I went through a lot of diagnostics, signals sent, etc with Verizon tech support before figuring this out. Don't know if anything they did on their end made a difference. All i know is when they were done with me, my DVR wouldn't boot at all, and I had an order in to replace my DVR.
