Is there any way to schedule a dvr program without specifying the entire name? For example, some shows have a title that says "UFC fight night: joe vs. harry" . I want to record all shows for UFC Fight night, not just joe vs harry. Is there a way to do that?
Actually it doesn't use the show name whole or part. It uses a shorter id assigned to that show. Good news it sometime does exactly what you want catching the "UFC Fight Night" in your example rather than the specific match. Unfortunately it is never clear what it will match in such cases.
Occassionaly even exact matches fail. E.g. in my area I have it set to capture a morning News show, but I have to set separate requests for the weekend show (exact same name) which apparently it has different ids for. Also some shows at the begin of new season will match and others will not. This means you should always check just before a new season starts to see if shows your favorite shows as scheduled to record that week.
No, there currently isnt a way to record all shows matching part of a title.
You can only record a certain show or a series of that show.
