DVR rewind starts to far back

When I rewind to go back 10 seconds, when I press 'play' it goes back at least 30 minutes. When I then use 'fast forward' to get back 29 minutes and hit 'play' it still starts playing from 30 (or so) minutes ago......this just started happening about 1 month ago.

What model DVR do you have?
