Dish Network has made a big push today and is adding a bunch of HD channels, leaving FIOS way behind.
What is Verizon doing for it's customers who were promised the best HD experience?

Are they counting locals in every market? I know DTV did that for a while. I would need to see the line up. I didn't think there were 200 nationwide channels that sent out HD programming. Even Syfi HD channel had a letterbox movie this past weekend that was less than 720. Looked funny with a 1080 output. Wrong formatting, but that was the channel. sending out a letterbox 4:3 movie in 1080. Yes my Tivo does native pass through, what they send is what I see.
Jake-
We will have to wait until next year when extra capacity will become available.
>Capacity
What? Verizon FiOS is virtually unlimited capacity. Channels are uncompressed on FiOS.
They have plenty of capacity. But remember a few things:
1) There are NOT 200 HD channels national out there yet.
2) Every channel COSTS MONEY.
3) Dish is well knows for counting Regionals/sports/VOD 'channels'' and 18 HD PPV channels or more

It turns out that 57 of the new "HD Channels" are actually VOD Titles that Dish was trying to pass off as new channels. Also these new titles are only available to customers that buy the Sling Loaded DVR. The article about this is http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/107989
Another thing to consider is, that if Dish is anything like Directv, there will be lots of weather related interference with their programing. Rain, snow, and ice plus many dish adjustments were constant issues that finally made me switch to Fios,
I also read on multichannel.com that these new channels require buying a new dish for those of us on the east coast. Not "company propaganda" but just an observation.
