Duplicate channels

I am new. I figured out the the lower numbers are SD channels and that they are mirrorred on the 500-600 series as HD channels. But some are also found on the 1400-1500 channels. Is there a difference or a reason why I would want to tune into a program in the thousand range instead of the hundred range?

Those duplicates are there for the convenience of those that subscribe to other than English language channel packages, so that all the channels are together in one range for them.
