Every morning our mail Verizon TV DVR Box has to be reset with the MENU button is this normal?
We get the Menu reset message and then the rest of the day it is ok. Then the next morning the first time we turn on the TV with the Verizon remote it requires us to push the MENU button to get the box set up again.

The only time that I am aware of an STB/DVR asking for the Menu button to be pressed is when the TV is on but the STB/DVR is off. This is a black screen with a Verizon logo skipping around asking you to "Press Menu..." In this case, it's not that you need to press the Menu button to set up anything, but rather it is a standby screen saver that allows people with 4-device remotes the option of pressing the Menu button to get the TV and STB/DVR back in sync with their power on/off cycle. This is probably happening because the last person shutting off the TV at night is not shutting off the STB/DVR as well. So the next person to hit the power button(s) is turning on the TV, but turning off the STB/DVR. Pressing the Menu button puts the power cycles back in sync and you don't notice it for the rest of the day.
If you have a 2-device remote, you can just press the STB power button again (instead of Menu).
Is this what you are referring to, or is it something different?

Your answer was right on!!!!
We have always turned the TV off before coming to bed however we did not turn off the DVR so as you stated this is causing the Menu to come up when we turn on the TV.
Then it is find until the next morning when the TV but NOT the DVR has been turned off all night as you stated.
MANY MANY THANKS,

Fellow FIOS TV customers. After much pain and lack of answers on multiple forums, I found the answer:
The solution to the annoying "upgrade" that forces you to "Press Menu to watch FIOS TV" do the following: Menu - Settings - Set-Top Box - Sleep Timer - [Set to NEVER] This will fix the annoying change they made so that message is on every time you turn on your TV. It is hard to understand why Verizon did this, and tech support seems unable to provide this solution if you search online or ask them. So here is your solution my friends...

I'm not sure what forums you searched, but this solution has been all over the web in a variety of forums since early August. Many people had actually asked for this feature, and you're absolutely right -- Verizon support should know the solution.
