Has anyone else noticed that their FIOS live tv freezes for a fraction of a second? We have been experiencing this quite frequently for the last few days. We heard from another FIOS user in our area that they are experiencing the same thing.
Yes same here, just came to the forums to see what's going on. This just started happening maybe within the past week or so. It will stutter or replay the last 1 or 2 seconds. I have the new Quantum box, and I'm located just outside Philly
Yes! I am also outside of philly and have the same problem. It is really annoying. I notice that when it does it, the channel is displayed on the cable box for a few seconds instead of the time.
Same problem in the Maryland/DC suburbs. I first noticed it Friday 2/20/15. Rebooting equipment has not resolved it.
im in texas and have the same problem with my quantium
I am also suffering from this problem.
I'm in Southern California, so I think we can rule out it being a regional problem.
I've noticed the problem in just the past couple weeks, so I'm guessing it's the result of a software update to the boxes.
I've also noticed that it appears to only happen on my secondary boxes, and not on my main box that acts as the media server. Can anyone else verify this?
Additional problems I've noticed related to the skipping problem:
If you REWIND or PAUSE your live TV (a minute or more is best if you want to see if you share the problem) and then press PLAY it will play just fine for a short period of time (let's say, 30 seconds to a couple of minutes) and then it will experience the freezing/skipping problem. Upon coming out of the freeze/skip it will jump from however far back it was rewound to live TV. This is *highly* annoying. Don't even bother trying to rewind again to catch up on the part you missed, because it will just happen again.
Another problem I noticed (this didn't happen nearly as often, but enough that I couldn't help but notice it), was that sometimes when watching TV with Closed Captioning on, when the signal does the freeze/skip thing it will turn the Captioning off. This didn't happen every time, but enough that I found myself having to switch it back on every couple minutes. Annoying!
I have no idea how to fix the problem but I did find a workaround!
This workaround isn't practical for watching TV all the time, but it's great if you have a movie or a show that you'd like to watch without this annoyingly frequent problem. This won't work if you want to flip around the channels (or even between two channels) while watching the program.
1) Press RECORD
2) PLAY the program you are now recording.
For some reason the freeze/skip problem doesn't happen if you're playing a recording.
We shouldn't have to do this, Verizon.... Please fix this bug!
The problem happens on both my media server and media client
You're all experiencing another great improvement from the recent Quantum software upgrade. But hey, it looks different, right? Who needs it to work properly? Big long thread about this over at DSL Reports.
