Just noticed today while skipping through the recorded portion to catch up to the live broadcast of a football game that the ffwd time jumped around.
When FFWD x2 speed I could watch the screen and stop at the beginning of each play. Now in FFWD x 2 the time jumps 3 seconds ahead, then 4 seconds ahead, then freeze - only to jump ahead 2 minutes.
Any idea why the FFWD x2 has gone hinky?

Check your internet speed, coax connections to main Fios box. Try unplugging power to the router, wait 3 minutes, plug back in.
