Guide Question - How to only list subscribed channels

I used to be able to set my guide listing to only display the subscribed channels.  As of 2 days ago. I get a bunch of VOD listings I do not need or want displayed.  How can I set my box to only display subscribed channels.  Also, is it possible to only select subscribed channels when using channel up/down (ie  when I do channel up from a current channel, I want to skip non-subscribed channels).

Thanks, this helped me figure it out. My settings were different, but I got it to work. I had to go to Menu/Guide/Settings/Last Viewed Guide State/ and then click Enable. Then when I went back to the guide view, I selected options/subscribed channels. And now it stays that way. Thanks again.

You have to do 2 things:

1) Go in to Menu - Settings - TV - Last Vuewed Guide State -Enable

2) Now hit Guide - Options. Select subscribed.

Should be good from there.

Does not work for me, never has, 1.9 on QIP7232 DVR. I have seen this suggestion posted several times, I have tried enabling/disabling Last Viewed State multiple times, it doesn't matter whether it is enabled or disabled, every time I choose Subscribed in the Guide and then exit the Guide, the next time I hit Guide it is back to Favorites 1 (or All Channels, depending on which of those two I last viewed before setting the Subscribed option).

However, I have never understood why anybody would want to used Subscribed anyway. When I choose Subscribed there are many (and I really mean many) channels that show up that I have absolutely no interest in - the SD equivalents of the HD channels, the Spanish language channels in the broadcast channel list as well as the Spanish channel grouping up around 1500 (I don't speak Spanish), the music channels above 1800, not to mention the shopping channels, and on and on. Is anybody really interested in all of that stuff?

I think everybody would be much happier with FiOS TV if they would take the time to create at least one Favorites list and then set that as the default they want to view in the Guide; that way they see by default only the channels they put in the list, but they can always easily switch to the All Channels view (or the Subscribed view if they really want to see it). Yes it takes a little effort up front to create a Favorites list, but the benefit is well worth the effort IMO. And really, creating a Favorites list is easy, you can:

A) Start with a list containing all channels and delete as desired

B) Start with an empty list and add as desired

C) Take the time to create your initial list up front, and then add or delete as desired (this is my preferred method)

And if you are using a DVR, you can easily manage the Favorites list(s) from the web if you want.

You can have up to two Favorites lists. I normally have only one (the DVR is in my office, it is mine Smiley LOL ), but whenever Verizon offers a free weekend of HBO or whatever I add those channels to a Favorites 2 list so I can easily view those channels any time I want. And it takes one button push in the Menu to delete all of the channels when the free preview ends. But with two lists they could be his and hers, or parents and children, or sports and movies, etc, whatever you want.

The one downside to using a customized Favorites list is if you replace the STB you need to re-create the list. I am hopeful that Verizon will provide some mechanism to back up/restore/port the Favorites list(s) to other devices in the future.

One other thing: I find the easiest and most effective way to set up the Guide options in the Menu to be:

Favorites Button ==> Toggle Flip by Favorites

Flip by Favorites ==> Favorites 1

These settings cause the Guide to display my Favorites 1 list of channels by default when I hit the Guide button, and allows me to change the Guide content to All Channels by hitting the Favorites button (the heart).

If I have at least gotten anybody interested in trying out Favorites, here is a link to a document I wrote several years ago that covers it in more detail. While it was written for an earlier level of the IMG, it is still very applicable to both 1.8 and 1.9.

(just ignore where the link points, it is a website I manage and was just a convient place for me to store the PDF)

I just have a list of favorites that I created for the upper stations because there are so many in between that I never care for.

I prefer to keep things simple.  Isn't life complicated enough?

I have done that and it was working ok.  Problem now is that Verizon has now added a bunch of VOD channels that were not listed before when viewing the subscribed channels only.  I do not want to see the VOD channels listed unless they are going to give them for free. My bill is high enough and I will NEVER order Video On Demand or other paid channels.  If I want to rent a movie, I'll get it at RedBox for $1.  I want to get rid of the extra listings and only show the channels I am currently subscribed to.

T\hanks !!  Worked Perfectly. Now when I go to the menu I just see the channels I subscribe to. I can change it to all if I want. But it will stay as only subscribed unless I change it.

For me last guide state only works if I select Modes first.

So Menu > settings > television > modes = enable

Then Select last viewed guide state and make sure that it is also enabled.

Now my subscribed channels work like a charm.
