I have a series recording set up to record all new episodes of Doctor Who on BBCA. There is one new episode a week. However, during the week BBCA also shows old episodes from prior seasons, and the guide data incorrectly shows these as new episodes.
Because of this, my dvr ends scheduling and recording many, many extra shows - sometimes a dozen a day!
How can I get Verizon to fix this?
Dear larryc,
Please allow me to investigate further. I will reply with a solution or workaround right there after.
Thanks for you patience
Dear larryc,
We have a question on series setting recording do you have have the episodes set to First Run & Repeats or First Run Only please verify and let us know because this might be the fix to your problem.
I have the same issue from time to time and I have all of my series set to first run only. Sometimes when there is a marathon, it wants to record all episodes. I recently had this issue with a show called mantracker. Also, there was something that was on this coming weekend and I don't remember what it was but the show was going to be on all day Sunday and every episode was in my list to be recorded, I had to go through and manually delete them all so that they don't fill up my box. This definitely seems to me to be an issue with the software.
I forgot to mention, when I deleted all of the shows that were set to record, I went back and looked in the guide and sure enough, they were all tagged with thaty little red tag that said NEW and they were definitely repeats. I wish I could remember what show it was but it is a marathon that is running this coming Sunday or Monday, a little searching through the guide and you should be able to find it...
I remember what it was, it was Pawn Stars on channel 628, it's on all day Monday. I just looked online and it only show 1 new at 1:00pm which is definitely noit new but the other day when I looked at guide on my box, they were all tagged as NEW. Hope this helps, this is a vey annoying bug...
Hello,
I doubled checked: The series is set to record first-run only.
Thanks for looking into this.
FYI it is FYI guide data. We were hoping in 2010 that they would go away. Many of these issues have been improved, but not all.
I love my Tivo!

Was this problem ever solved? I have this problem CONSTANTLY! The guide will say old episodes are new and record them, mostly when there is a marathon of the program on, but occasionally just when an old episode is airing. It messes up other programs I am trying to record at the same time.
