HD Channel Guide on QIP 6416-2?

My FIOS DVR is Motorola QIP 6416-2.  I can't set the Channel Guide into HD display, the way I can with my other STB (QIP 7100).  The 6416 Guide displays in SD with black bars on the sides and only  6 channels displayed per screen.  Is there some way to change this?

No. The 6416 is simply not capable of displaying the HD Guide.

If I upgrade from the QIP 6416 to the 500GB HD DVR, will lthat allow me to display the HD Channel Guide?

Yes. All of Verizon's 7xxx Motorola DVRs and STBs will display the HD Channel Guide. When you refer to the "500GB HD DVR" I assume you are referring to the QIP7232 DVR, although apparently Verizon has refurbished some of the older 7216 DVRs with 500GB hard drives, replacing the original 160GB drives.
