HD Channels question

I recently switched from a Standard Def Box to a High Def Box.  I'm a little confused as to the channels that I should be getting.  For example, I get all the ABC, NBC, CBS channels, etc., in HD.  The confusion comes with the higher channels.  For instance, I get CNN in HD and SD, but I don't get MSNBC or Fox News on HD (just the SD).  Also, FX, Spike, Speed, QVC, Travel Channel, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, Disney, ABC Family are not in HD, but I do get those on SD. I've been trying to find a listing of all the HD channels each package has to offer, but when I compare packages there are only 14 or so HD channels that get listed, but I obviously get more HD channels than 14 (and even the highest HD package seems to only have 14 HD channels listed).  Is there somewhere on the Verizon website that I'm missing where ALL the HD channels are listed for each package?  And also, would it be normal not to get MSNBC and Fox News but get CNN in HD?  Any help or information is really appreciated!  🙂

Do you know what package you have? It should be on your bill.

I have had Fios TV Premier with the Standard, but I just paid my bill for that and the HD is only a few days new so I don't have a bill (even online) yet with the HD package.  I'm pretty sure it's just the basic HD, not the ultimate or anything like that.

if you go here you can compare the channels in each package side by side.  you will see a button on the right that says 'Compare TV plans and channels'

Verizon no longer charges separately for HD.  I believe that if you have the SD channel and an HD version of that channel is available, then you should be getting it too.  14 HD channels certainly is not right.  It's worth a phone call to Verizon.

Thank you so much for that link.  On the HD Tier 1 listing, I'm missing a good amount of those listed.  I'll give them a call.  Thank you both for helping!  🙂

I called today.  I was told I just had "HD Content" and I get a total of 45 channels in HD.  I don't get the ones I previously mentioned (MSNBC, Fox News, ABC Family, FX, Spike, VH1, MTV, etc.) as they are only available as part of the Prime, Ultimate or Extreme HD package.

Thanks again for all your help!  I appreciate it!

Are you sure?

Do you only have the locals package?

I have the FIOS TV Premier and according to the person I spoke to yesterday, he said it was listed as "HD Content" in addition to the FIOS TV Premier.  I haven't received my first bill yet and it's not posted online yet to see exactly what it says unfortunately.  When I called and the automated system asked me what channel I was having trouble with and not getting, I put in one of the numbers (Fox News) and the automated service said this is a channel that you should be getting.  When it was unable to troubleshoot and fix the problem (me seeing the channel), it transferred me to the tech who told me that I'm not subscribed to those channels.
