I just upgraded my TV package to the Extreme HD. How long does it normally take before I can access the additional channels? Is this something that I need to call and have pushed to my box?
It usually takes 5-10 minutes for channels to become accessible from the moment you upgrade your channel package.

This isnt exactly correct. It depends what market you are in.
Some will see changes in minutes, some hours, and others within 24 hours.
Someone physically has to approve the upgrade before you will see it. If you want it right away then calling in and having them push it will work.
In most cases though you'll see it within 24 hours.
It depends on the due date for the order and if you have any pending orders on your account. If there is a pending order, your new order will not complete until the pending order completes regardless of the due date. The rep should have told you the due date for the order. If they were able to date the order for the same day, it only take a few minutes for the order to complete. Also, if you ordered equipment on the same order, it will not go thru until you get the equipment and activate it. As long as there isnt equipment on the order, tech support can get the order corrected if it is not on.
Generally, you'll see that the package will activate within an hour, often times even less. However, this all depends on how the order is flowing through. If you have other orders that are pending, or if there's a lot of things you're changing in one order then naturally it'll take longer. Generally it should be fairly quick though.
Keep in mind though, when you put in an order and they give you a due date, it can take until 11:59pm on that due date for the order to finish.
I just found this thread because I was having issues with my TV upgrade. 2 days ago I upgraded online from Preferred to Ultimate TV. I thought it would only take a few hours to process, so when I didn't see the channels I called Verizon. Somewhat surprisingly, I was told the earliest "due date" they could give me to complete the upgrade is 15 days from now. I asked if there was any way to process this earlier and they said this was the earliest. Just wanted to add this information to this thread because apparently now it is a much longer process.
If no equipment change, it is usually ONE WEEKDAY. Holidays and weekends some changes can be made but not others. On weekdays, if you catch them right it can be only a few minutes or hours.
